Coming from the workshops of Pierre Carron and Pierre Faure at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris at the end of the 1970s, Didier Piketty then headed to Casa Velázquez in Madrid in 1982 where he received the Georges Wildenstein prize. On his return to France he became a drawing and painting teacher at the Ateliers des Beaux-Arts in the city of Paris, where he spent his entire career, instilling good advice in many artists for almost forty years.

Didier Piketty’s paintings do not dwell on the anecdotal. They transcribe the sensations of the artist facing a territory experienced, known and loved. A great colorist, the artist offers the viewer the essence of the landscape and its forms. Facing the Castilian landscape, we physically feel the aridity of the sierra, the drought, the thirst would come to overcome us. The landscapes of Normandy are completely different. They are bathed in this humid light which makes the region famous and gives it these characteristic colors. In the strict sense of the term, Didier Piketty's painting causes sensations.
